These brownies were known for their delectableness throughout Susanne’s DC friends network. It would not be overstating it to say that they were inspiring. Some people regularly requested these brownies at special events, like their birthdays. And though you can make them without the frosting, you really shouldn’t miss out on the complexity of flavors and textures.
FOR THE BROWNIES:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 tsp. Vanilla
2–3 tbsp cocoa
2/3 cup flour
FOR THE FUDGE ICING:
1 large egg
1/3 cup butter
2 cups icing sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/4 tsp. Salt
2–3 tbsp. high quality cocoa powder
Preheat oven to 350F.
Put wax paper in an 8×8 pan and butter the paper in the pan.
Cream together the sugar and butter.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Add cocoa and flour.
Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool.
To make the fudge icing, mix all ingredients in a bowl.
Spread over cooled brownies.
